Honey Brook Borough Adopts New Parks & Recreation Ordinance No 266

Honey Brook Borough Council has adopted a new Parks and Recreation Ordinance to help ensure that Borough parks remain safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone in the community.

The ordinance establishes clear guidelines for the use of all Borough-owned parks and recreational facilities, including playgrounds, athletic fields, picnic areas, pickleball courts, bocce courts, walking paths, and other public spaces. These rules are intended to promote respectful use of the parks while protecting Borough property and the health and safety of park visitors.

Key provisions of the ordinance include:

  • Park Hours: Borough parks are open from dawn to dusk each day.
  • No Alcohol: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in Borough parks.
  • Dogs Prohibited: Dogs are not allowed in Borough parks, with the exception of service animals or dogs used by law enforcement or emergency personnel.
  • Pickleball Court Rules: Courts are reserved for pickleball use only, require proper non-marking footwear, and prohibit food, glass containers, pets, bicycles, and smoking.
  • Cleanliness: Park users are expected to dispose of trash properly and leave park areas clean.
  • Respectful Conduct: Fighting, excessive noise, property damage, and other forms of disorderly conduct are prohibited.

The ordinance also establishes a permit system for reserving park facilities, such as pavilions, pickleball courts, and bocce courts, through the Borough office.

Enforcement of the ordinance will be handled by the Honey Brook Borough Police Department and the Borough Code Enforcement Officer. Penalties for violations may include warnings and fines.

These regulations were adopted to help preserve Borough parks and ensure they remain welcoming community spaces for residents and visitors alike.

Residents who would like more information about park rules or facility reservations are encouraged to contact the Honey Brook Borough Office.
